Dublin City University BEng in Electronic & Computer Engineering graduate, Zeynep Tugrul, has been awarded the 2018 Chancellor’s Medal at the 2018 graduation ceremony.  This medal is awarded to the student who has significantly contributed to the social and non-academic aspect of university life during their time at DCU.

Zeynep not only achieved a First Class Honours award in her ECE degree (Major in Digital Interaction), she was very involved in student representation, the Engineering Society and Open Day for the School of Electronic Engineering.

Outside of DCU, Zeynep volunteered with AIESEC, a non-profit youth-run organisation, to teach English to children in underprivileged areas of Jakarta, Indonesia. During her time in Indonesia, Zeynep was continuously fundraising to help underprivileged children with the costs of going to school and accessing necessary educational resources, and received an award for her engagement with the project. Zeynep also participated in the Ballymun Initiative for Third Level Education, (BITE) which encourages students to fully participate in all levels of education and motivate them to do well in state examinations.
