Following a challenging number of months for students, some much needed good news has landed in the shape of the announcement of the recipients of the 2020 Intel Final Year Project Prizes.

Annually, Intel awards prizes to three outstanding contributions showcased as part of the Faculty of Engineering and Computing’s Final Year Project Expo.  The School of Electronic Engineering is delighted to announce that two of its alumni have been recognised in this year’s prize giving.

First prize of €500 was scooped by Jade O’Connor (BEng in Mechatronic Engineering) for her project entitled ‘Smart Device for Neuromotor Clinical Assessment’.  Further details of Jade’s project can be found here  (page 111).

Third prize of €150 was awarded to Shane Tuite (BEng in Electronic and Computer Engineering) for his project ‘Using Deep Learning Based Computer Vision to Undertake Natural Disaster Damage Assessment from Satellite Images’.  More information on Shane’s project is available on page 102 here.

The School of Electronic Engineering extends its warmest congratulations to Jade and Shane for an outstanding achievement in a highly competitive field and in trying and unique circumstances.
